Severity of Acute PE varies widely and risk stratification is the key to select most effective and safe therapy. While Intravenous thrombolysis is the established reperfusion therapy for high-risk and few selected intermediate-risk acute PE patients, catheter directed ultrasound assisted low dose thrombolysis and percutaneous, catheter based thrombectomy are the growing and exciting developments for this deadly situation.
