Ringer's lactate is a source of water and electrolytes, its produces metabolic alkanising effect and is converted in bicarbonate ions to help in state of metabolic acidosis. Ringers lactate is isotonic to blood, mostly used in crystalloid form with PH 6.5 and alkanising effect. It was first invented in1880 by Sydney Ringer and then in 1930 by Hartmann. He added lactate so its called as ringer's lactate, from that day nothing is changed, still it's used with same composition.
Uses of ringers lactate are endless but some importants are:- Fluid resuscitation after blood loss after trauma,pre and post op surgery and burns.
