Recently U. S. FDA has approved a unique tissue containment device used in laparoscopic surgeries, despite the risk of spreading cancer during the surgery is unknown. Although the U. S.
FDA has approved the use of this device only in a limited number of patients and emphasised to share information with patients prior surgery, it has gone ahead and approved the device. This article discusses this device in briefly. Laparoscopic power morcellators are medical devices used during various kinds of minimally invasive/ laparoscopic surgeries to treat uterine fibroids (noncancerous growth that develops from the muscular tissue of the uterus), such as hysterectomy or myomectomy.
