Amblyopia is a vision impairment in which one of the eyes fails to achieve normal visual acuity. The disease is also called as ‘lazy eye.’ Amblyopia begins during infancy and early childhood and affects three in every hundred children. Its symptoms include trouble judging the distance or depth of any object, squinting and tilting head. Early detection of amblyopia is possible and helps in the timely treatment of the condition, including the correction of the refractive errors using glasses or contact lenses.
Another method is by patching the stronger vision eye and forcing the weaker one to increase its visual activity. This is done either by patching the eye or blurring the second eye’s vision by adding drops. Take this short survey on amblyopia to brush up your knowledge.
