Case presentation A 22-year-old lady at 19 weeks and 5 days of gestation presented to a gynecologist in the labor and delivery triage with severe left-sided stabbing pain in the pelvic area. She reported that the pain was initially intermittent but gradually became persistent and severe. Further, it intensified when lying down and decreased when leaning forward. She had reported to the gynecologist after 2 hours of persistent pain. Additionally, she complained of nausea, vomiting, and non-bloody loose bowel movements for the past two days.
History She had a past medical history of attention deficit disorder. Further, she had undergone an appendectomy at 7 weeks of the current gestation. Reports from her ultrasound during the appendectomy revealed a left ovary measuring 4.9 × 5.2 × 4.7 cm that contained a hemorrhaging corpus luteum cyst.
