A 52-year-old male patient presented to the emergency department with a 1-day history of nausea and vomiting and a 2-month history of polyuria and polydipsia . The patient had no previous history of diabetes. Medical history In the past, the patient was diagnosed with malignant melanoma of the right scapular region, which was surgically excised along with axillary clearance. Malignant melanoma was diagnosed as a stage T4a, BRAF-negative nodular melanoma.
After two years of the initial diagnosis of malignant melanoma, the patient was found to have skin and pulmonary metastases. The patient had no family history of diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
