I n most developing and developed countries, ageing of the population is associated with increased eye care needs. Vision loss among the elderly is a major health care problem. This article describes the most common age-related problems, warning signs of eye health problems, common age-related eye problems and how to prevent age related vision problems. Approximately one person in three has some form of vision-affecting eye disease by the age of 65. Visual impairment is associated with many negative consequences in the elderly.
