A neurosurgeon and a robotics engineer from AIIMS have developed an advanced portable ventilator that can be connected to any android device. This device detects the breathing pattern and also monitors vitals such as blood pressure, pulse etc. The ventilator is considered patient-friendly and fits in a very small space as against a conventional ventilator. It automatically detects any anomaly in the breathing pattern and can alert the attendant.
The cost starts from Rs 45,000 and is inclusive of a fixed tablet that displays vitals. Professor Diwakar Vaish, robotics scientist and co-inventor of the ventilator said it requires a minimum of electricity, “It is equivalent to 100 watts, which means using two tube lights.
