AIIMS in a shocking move on collecting data from doctors to maintain their database, has circulated a form seeking caste and religion from it's faculty doctors. This form aims at creating “a database of all senior doctors”. Apart from name and age, the other details that are included are related to salary and appointment. When asked by news media houses, Dr Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS-Delhi, said he was “unaware” of such a form being distributed. One of the senior doctors stated, “This is shocking.
Why do they want to talk about the caste and religion of any doctor who is working in the hospital? Even during entrance examinations, students object to such questions”.
