Case presentation A 9-month-old infant was brought to the emergency department with a 3-hour history of intense abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. Physical examination revealed a tender abdomen without ascites. The infant was extremely dehydrated, and unfortunately, died after 24 hours. Autopsy findings revealed a torsion (volvulus) of the small bowel.
