A 55-year-old male came from my native village with complaints of shortness of breath, edema of feet, distension of abdomen of 6 weeks duration. I come from small town called Adoni in Kurnool District. I go for consulting every month from Hyderabad to this town for consulting cardiac patients and guide them for their treatment. The patient was suffering from Rheumatic heart disease from last 10 years. He underwent open heart surgery 10 years back done by our team in an Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad.
He underwent replacement of both left-sided heart valves, Mitral and Aortic valve as both were stenosed. Double valve replacement with both mechanical valves carries high risk, 10% mortality during surgery.
