Chronic kidney disease is always associated with increased risk of stroke. However, the magnitude and independent effect of glomerular filtration rate and albuminuria are still ill-defined. In this context, a study has been published in the Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation reporting an inverse relationship between the stroke and glomerular filtration rate. This article gives a short overview of the study. Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the main cause of the chronic neurological disability worldwide.
