Though traditionally classified as a developmental disorder of pediatric age group, attention deficit hyperactive disorder is increasingly being recognized among adults. Diagnosis depends on the disease manifestations and treatment includes medications and psychotherapy. Current understanding of psychiatric disorders and behavioural science has proven that ADHD often persists into adulthood and causes serious consequences. Major psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse exist as comorbidities, further complicating diagnosis and management.
