According to the recent study published in International Urology and Nephrology, researchers claimed that urine of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) contains bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. The study involved 41 women and 36 men with stage 3-5 kidney disease. Remarkably, 69% of men and 70% of the women were characterized with diabetes, 42% of men and 51% of the women presented with urinary urgency as well as 78% of the men and 51% of the women demonstrated nocturia.

Furthermore, the study reveals the 19 different types bacteria in urine. Likewise, the urine specimens were mostly dominated by the Corynebacterium (n=11), Staphylococcus (n=9), Streptococcus (n=7), Lactobacillus (n=7), Gardnerella (n=7), Prevotella (n=4), Escherichia_Shigella (n=3) and Enterobacteriaceae (n=2).
