A new randomized controlled trial published in the British Journal of Dermatology has found that people with eczema can bathe daily or weekly without affecting their symptoms. The “Eczema Bathing Study,” conducted by researchers at the University of Nottingham and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, involved 438 participants aged one year and older, all with mild-to-severe eczema. Participants were randomly assigned to bathe either daily (six or more times per week) or weekly (once or twice per week) for four weeks while continuing their usual treatments.
Eczema severity, measured using the Patient-Oriented Eczema Measure (POEM), showed no significant difference between the two groups (adjusted mean difference = –0.4).
