Bupropion is a noradrenergic-Dopaminergic reuptake inhibitor (NDRI) antidepressant. It is not used as like SSRIs as a first line antidepressant. But it has an advantage of not causing sexual side effects (like decreased libido, delayed ejaculation etc) which is a frequent complaint from those taking other antidepressants (like SSRI). Bupropion is also good as an anticraving agent for tobacco dependance which exploits its dopaminergic facilitative property in this case.
I want to know from my colleagues as to how good is Bupropion as a monotherapy in major depressive disorder? Please give your expert views regarding its usage, dosage, side effects, and its use in both MDD and tobacco dependance cases. Thank you.
