Humans reap the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered systems every single day. Starting from spam-free emails in our inboxes to smartwatches and, most importantly, in healthcare . However, simulating human intelligence and replacing it with AI sounds too far-fetched, isn’t it? A group of scientists from the UK conducted an interesting study to find out if AI could pass the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR) examination. The study compared the performance of a commercially available AI tool with that of 26 FRCR examination-qualified radiologists.
In a set of 10 mock examinations with only ‘AI-interpretable’ radiographs, the AI candidate passed only two. However, ten radiologists passed at least five examinations.
