An intricate and probably indispensable part of the medical practice; can the so called " Cut/Commission " system be legalised as in other services- for eg Insurance Services ? An insurance agent gets almost upto 40 % of the first year premium ( depending on the company ) and he / she is " Felicitated " for the same. The insured happily pays it and thanks the " Agent ". Same for travel agents who get their share for referring tourists to a good hotel / resort.
The tourist in fact thanks the AGENT for referring him/her to a " Good " hotel. In fact the government used to reward the officers of the revenue services ( customs / DRI etc ) for making a " Catch " ( i dont know of late ). The list is endless..So why can't the " SHARING " in medical practice ( I hate to call it CUT / COMMISION ) be legalised ?
