It's common practice in almost all the ICCU's Patient of acute myocardial infarction with cardiac arrest , sometimes  of even 20-30 minutes duration being given repeatedly DC shock to revive ,though mostly in vain but in few patients rhythm returns and what is left is a brain dead patient kept on ventilators then follows the problems for families and patient. Question is. What should be ideal in those cases especially in a poor country like India?

Should in all patients irrespective of duration of cardiac arrest, cardioversion be tried? Is there any ethical or legal basis for that, o r its a procedure adopted in corporate sector to keep ventilators busy?
