Catheters are frequently used the medical device in healthcare settings. The present article gives an overview of catheter related bloodstream infections (CRBSI) and guidelines for their prevention. The catheter retained in a blood vessel is the most common cause of bloodstream infections. Understanding the epidemiology of various infections associated with a catheter can be helpful in early management.
