Checkpoint inhibitors seek to overcome one of the cancer’s main defenses against the immune system attack. They’ve scored some impressive successes in recent years, particularly in some patients with metastatic melanoma or Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and are showing promising results in clinical trials involving patients with other types of cancer too. Apparently, with a better treatment, some side effects are also seen in many patients.
