World is facing an obesity epidemic, with India being the third most obese country in the world. While the world's obesity crisis is there for all to see, startling figures reveal the growing prevalence of obesity among adolescents (13-18 years). It has grown from 16 % to 29 % over the last five years, making India wither under pressure. In an exclusive interview, we spoke to one of the most influential obesity surgeons in India, to know about the alarming statistics.
He pointed out, “Obesity is the most preventable cause of diseases and morbidity. As a matter of fact, only 5% obesity cases are hormonal, others can be prevented.
