A female infant– with birth weight 2.695 kg– was born at 36+4 weeks of gestational age through spontaneous vaginal delivery. On examination, amniotic fluid was hemorrhagic. Anomalies were absent after placental inspection. At birth, the infant showed inefficient respiratory effort and bradycardia. She underwent suction of upper airway secretions (presence of red blood in secretions) and intermittent positive pressure ventilation for 1 min; however, her condition failed to improve.
