Mobile device use has been increasing among preschool-aged children. Several studies have shown an association between mobile device use and child emotional dysregulation. Now, a study has investigated whether tablet use in 3.5-year-old children is associated with expressions of anger and frustration. The study analyzed the responses of 315 parents to questionnaires.
The analysis revealed that tablet use (1.15 hours/day) among children aged 3.5 years was associated with a 22% increase in expression of anger and frustration at age 4.5 years. Remarkably, the heightened levels of anger and frustration at age 4.5 years were associated with 22% more use (0.28 hours/day) of tablets by age 5.5 years.
