The outbreak of the novel coronavirus is increasing the death toll globally. Being ground zero, China's National Health Commission (NHC) is directing its efforts to combat the outbreak using Anti-HIV drugs. The process to procure a vaccine has also commenced. WHO has recently announced that the new coronavirus from China will now be known as Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The outbreak has caused more than 60,000 confirmed cases, and the death toll has reached 1,357.
China's NHC has established new methods of treatment to act against COVID-19. A combination of lopinavir and ritonavir was found to be effective for the treatment of infected patients. A respiratory expert from Beijing had tested positive while inspecting patients in Wuhan.
