A male child aged 8yrs, wt 18 kg was brought to Emergency with following complaints-pain in the groin and hip progressively increasing for the last 3 days.No history of fall or injury. Pt was running temp.vomiting and dehydrated. Not able to stand. Past History; Nil particular. No known allergy to any drug. Possibilities-Septic arthritis? CRP58 mg/ L.( 0- 10 ) ESR 37 Blood culture;Staphylococcus aureus sensitive to Cloxacillin. Prescription- Cloxacillin iv 800 mg 4 times a day for 2 weeks followed by oral cloxacillin 4 times a day for 4 weeks. Temp. settled ESR CRP DECREASED following initiation 0f antibiotic therapy. On the 3 rd day of treatment pt developed a raised red rash suspected to be allergic reaction to cloxacillin.
