The coming lines are not a forward . It is a scientific statement compiled by me, based on proven evidence. These are some current bad practices in ENT that needs a change. It is not meant to insult or criticise anyone, but just a plea for change for the better. 1. Never do BERA for hearing evaluation when middle ear effusion is present. A child with 70dB hearing loss with MEE and 90 dB loss with MEE have radically different treatment protocols. If you find effusion, treat it, do a grommet without waiting the customary 3 months. A 2-3 week waiting period is enough, for time is precious now.
