Epilepsy surgery is a standard treatment in selected patients with drug-resistant epilepsy resulting in seizure freedom. In some cases, invasive seizure monitoring is required for localizing the seizure onset zone and for defining the area of planned resection against eloquent cortex. However, such procedures carry risks for complications causing permanent morbidity and even mortality. Often a non-invasive presurgical workup is satisfactory in most of the epilepsy cases.
