Colorectal cancer is the third most common cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. With the global rise in life expectancy and the higher incidence of colorectal cancer, it was observed that elderly patients are being diagnosed with this disease in staggering numbers. The use of surgical interventions in high-risk patients is extremely difficult due to the complications associated with colorectal cancers.

The appropriate surgical method to reduce the complications includes the careful consideration of modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors, the intra or postoperative morbidity, and mortality rate.
