The Plastibell Circumcision Device is a transparent plastic ring with a deep circumferential groove running upon ring. It is designed for holding the tied thread upon the prepuce worn over the ring. It was invented by Hollister Inc in 1950, and first reported on in 1953. The prepuce is pulled over the ring which has a handle and thread is very firmly tied on circumferential surface upon the foreskin. The handle is broken, only ring remains and redundant skin is removed. No bleeding and no dressing required. Plastibell is one of the best method of circumcision particularly in new born.
The ring usually falls in 3 days. With age the skin becomes stronger and takes a few days extra. It is essential to remove smegma and adhesion of preputial mucosa from glans.
