Congenital chylothorax (CC) is one of the most common causes of pleural effusion in neonates. It is characterized by an accumulation of lymphocytic fluids in the pleural space. One in 10000 newborn babies are affected, and the mortality rate ranges from 20 to 60% in asymptomatic case, going upto 98% in infants with hydrops fetalis. Weโ€™ve summarized an interesting case report covering the various aspects of this condition.

Case presentation An infant, born to a 30-year-old mother through normal vaginal delivery at full-term, and weighing 2.9 kg at birth, developed immediate respiratory distress. There were no reports of congenital anomalies on antenatal ultrasonography.
