The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, New Delhi, cleared a private hospital and four doctors, including the Medical Superintendent, Gynecologist, General Surgeon, and Anesthetist, of medical negligence charges in the death of a woman suffering from placenta previa grade IV, a severe and life-threatening pregnancy complication. The court held that the emergency surgery and subsequent referral to a government hospital were performed in good faith as life-saving measures, not due to negligence. The case dates back to 2015, when the patient was admitted to a private hospital in Delhi with heavy bleeding during her 18β19-week pregnancy.
