Indian scientists are assessing the efficacy of plasma therapy as a new potential cure for COVID-19 . Recently, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the Kerala government’s COVID-19 task force for a clinical trial for testing the efficacy of plasma therapy in critically ill patients. The trial is expected to start by April at a prestigious government hospital. The evidence for the plasma therapy trial has been provided by a few small-scale studies conducted in China and the United States.

The use of plasma therapy is based on the assumption that antibodies from a cured person can combat the virus in a corona-positive patient’s body.
