Case presentation A 58-year-old woman  was admitted to the hospital with the following complaints: Dysphagia (to solids and liquids) Chest pain during swallowing Food regurgitation Nocturnal cough Medical history The patient considered herself ill since she was 23 years of age when she first noticed the symptoms of dysphagia which disturbed her at least once in 2 months. These symptoms continued until she was 31 years old, when her episodes of dysphagia became more frequent and occurred once or twice per week.
