Let us see a case scenario: A 55-year-old gentleman with diabetes and dyslipidemia, presents with a blood pressure reading of 136/88mmHg. The diabetes is well controlled with metformin 1000mg twice a day and with Rosuvastatin 10mg once a day the serum LDL cholesterol has lowered by more than 50% from his original value. The patient is not obese or overweight. Renal function, Liver function, ECG, and Echo are normal. The patient is advised to restrict salt intake and follow DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) along with exercise.
He is also advised to do home blood pressure monitoring and follow up after 2 weeks. His follow up visit shows repeat B.P of 134/88mmHg.
