There has never been such a tumultuous time for health, healthcare and medicine as we experience now in India. Changes have been drastic and so rapid that the medical fraternity seems unprepared to cope with the turbulence that has set in. Every new breaking- news, reliable or unreliable, is like an aftershock of an earthquake. For example, when I read that veterinary doctors with one extra year of pharmacology will be qualified to practice allopathic medicine, I just hope this is someone's imagination and not the truth.

But then so many bizarre news on the medical front has turned out to be true, it leaves us bewildered. Many regulatory changes of the government have been good, and we hope Ayushman Bharat will turn the long-awaited tide of fortune for the penniless patient in India.
