I n a day to day life a physician is mostly familiar with a general question asked by his patients “will there be a scar”? Cutaneous scarring is often regarded as an epicenter of patient-related concerns. Cutaneous scarring can cause patients symptoms ranging from the psychological to physical pain. In the clinical context, the assessment of scars is becoming more sophisticated and new physical, medical and surgical therapies are being introduced. This article aims to summarize some of the recent developments in scarring research.

Cutaneous scarring is inevitable condition following damage to the skin either through trauma or surgery.
