Synopsis Heart failure (HF) is a severe health condition in which the heart is not capable of pumping enough blood to support body functions. In patients with HF and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and type 2 diabetes, monitoring the onset of HF symptoms and initiating prompt intervention is important in maintaining the quality of life. In this regard, the following MedFact describes the results of a clinical trial on an FDA approved drug, dapagliflozin, in the treatment of patients with HFrEF. This week’s MEDFACT discusses a randomized, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine , titled “ Dapagliflozin in patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction .”  Authors: John J.
