Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty(DALK) is performed to remove and replace the pathologic corneal stroma while preserving host healthy endothelium thereby eliminating the risk of endothelial graft rejection. It also avoids m ost complications associated with an open system surgery, such as anterior synechia, expulsive hemorrhage, and endophthalmitis.
