One of the esthetic restoration is Glass Ionomer and the advanced version of Silicate cement, but not as good in optical properties compared to Silicates. Aesthetically inferior to composite resins, but the newer glass could serve the purpose. The adhesive nature of glass ionomer is made use in pit and fissure sealants, luting or cementation, and fillings. They are not very technique sensitive and do not have moisture contamination.
Isolation while the restoration is required, but if some amount of moisture contamination happens, it doesn’t make the filling unusable and redoes again. The latest glass ionomer, compomer, and hybrids have been available to us with evolving physical and chemical properties.
