Up to 5% of the population has one or more liver cysts; with a sharp rise in incidence with age. Women (age 50 to 60 years) are more commonly affected than men are. Liver cysts are the condition occurs in 2-5% of the population globally. These cysts are asymptomatic in many patients, so it is very difficult to suggest the therapy. If the whole liver is involved, a polycystic liver disease is presumed to exist.
In this synopsis, experiences of laparoscopic management of both symptomatic multiple liver cysts and polycystic liver disease are presented. The term hepatic cysts mean the non-parasitic cysts in the liver, it is also known as the Simple cyst. The frequency of liver cysts are not known as it does not show any symptoms but is estimated from many patients.
