Noninfectious uveitis (NIU) is a serious, intraocular, sight-threatening inflammatory condition characterized by inflammation of the uvea. In this study, the researchers have examined the effectiveness of repeated use of intravitreal dexamethasone (DEX) inserts in noninfectious uveitis patients. Study design A prospective, single-center, interventional clinical trial was carried out with 76 patients and a total of 109 eyes. 68% of the patients were females. The mean age of all participants was 57 years. These patients received 298 DEX inserts.
More than 3 DEX inserts were injected into 44% of eyes. Patients with noninfectious uveitis with cystoid macular edema and/or vitreitis were included in the study.
