In recent years, dexmedetomidine has become an essential anesthetic in the field of anesthesiology. Although very few side effects have been noted, its application in the pediatric setting is off-label. Hence the large scale, randomized pediatric trials or studies are necessary to determine the optimal dose, safety, and efficacy of dexmedetomidine application. The article reports the observations where the dexmedetomidine was infused during congenital heart surgery and assessed for its renoprotective effects.
