By conducting a CPR relay exercise with 104 nationalities, DHA sets a new Guinness world record by breaking the previous record of 74 nationalities. Doctors said such initiative is of great importance, as CPR if given on time can increase the survival rate from 5 to 65 percent. They further added that CPR conducted by an unqualified person can be more harmful, and stressed on the necessity of such training programs.
Director General of DHA said that by conducting this relay exercise, DHA aims at spreading awareness about the importance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and its role in saving lives. A doctor involved in conducting the exercise said that while CPR can save lives, it should also be kept in mind that CPR if performed by an unqualified person, can be of more harm than good.
