A 69-year-old woman with alcohol use disorder was presented to the emergency unit with progressive disorientation and disorganized speech until abulia for the past two months. The patient had been suffering from watery diarrhea for the past 14 days. Examination revealed Dehydration, disorientation, bradypsychia, and a pale, lethargic appearance Blood pressure : 109/66 mmHg, peripheral capillary oxygen saturation: 97% BMI : 16.26 kg/m 2 Symmetrical scaly rash, hyperpigmentation, and hyperkeratinization on exposed skin areas Ring of erythema and hyperpigmentation extending from the neck to the chest (cover image) Diet comprised almost exclusively of cassava root meals for the last 3–4 months (revealed by anamnesis).
