About two years back I had remain by the side of my close relative for about two days who was admitted in intensive care unit (ICU) for acute myocardial infarction. The nurse objected when I tried to read about the treatment and progress details in the case sheat after the doctors rounds were over. I argued that being a doctor and close relative, there is nothing wrong in reading the case sheat to know more about the treatment being given. She simply showed the CCTV camera installed in a corner which I did not notice.
Later I came to know that CCTV camera was installed to counter rude behaviour of patient's attendants and to monitor functioning of ICU staff. Now I would like to know from fellow doctors about the necessity and utility of CCTV cameras in the ICU.
