A 41-year-old orthopedic consultant has stepped away from clinical work and left Mumbai with his family after allegedly being assaulted by a patient’s son during a consultation at a Kalyan hospital. Dr Yogendra Jaiswal, a consulting orthopedic specialist at Bhanujyot Hospital in Kalyan East, said he decided to take a break after the incident left his family deeply distressed. He particularly cited the emotional impact on his elderly parents, who saw CCTV footage of the altercation on news channels.

The incident occurred at around 10:45 pm on Saturday when a man identified as Jaywant Deshmukh, aged about 60 to 70 years, arrived at the hospital with lower back pain.
