Doctors in India, Beware! The Dooms Day is Near! The announcement by Union Health Minister, Shri J.P. Nadda to stop issuance of NORI (No Obligation to Return to India) certificate to any doctor under age of 65 years has put the future of doctors in jeopardy. Briefly, NORI is a certificate required by all the doctors including all faculties that travel to USA on J1 visa. This is a visitor exchange program which provides doctors with the opportunity to work in USA, and return to India and work for 2 years after expiration of their J1 visa.
The decision of health minister Nadda not to issue NORI certificate, is a direct way of preventing doctors from working abroad and staying there. Why such a move by Health Ministry? Why just Doctors?
