The Indian Medical Association’s Kerala branch has conducted a survey to assess safety concerns among doctors nationwide. Over 3,800 doctors from 22 states and union territories participated in the survey. More than 60% of the participants were interns or PG trainees, and 63% were female doctors. The survey gathered doctors’ insights on the current safety conditions in healthcare facilities and their demands for improving these conditions. Safety concerns shared by the doctors Over 24% and 11% of doctors felt “unsafe” and “very unsafe” during duty hours, respectively.

During night duty hours, 17% of doctors working at government healthcare facilities felt “very unsafe,” while 5.5% felt the same at private healthcare facilities.
