The landscape of diabetes care is changing quickly and significantly as a result of recent clinical trials looking into the cardiovascular (CV) safety of newer antidiabetic drugs . These trials have also provided highly significant clinical information on decision-making about the selection of antidiabetic medications. Some glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) have also shown a considerable risk reduction in major adverse CV events (MACE) in patients with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk of CV events, much like the sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors.
